The Platform Architecture group defines and connects this ecosystem. PA-Security is a team of engineers dedicated to securing Apple devices, protecting privacy and storing personal data, while delivering high-quality user experience. We are looking for hardworking and inspired individuals to raise the bar on the security of Apple product lineup and ensure a quality user experience.
Responsibilities- Develop threat models and associated security architectures for new Apple products and technologies, derive system security requirements, and design mitigations in collaboration with product and engineering teams.
- Develop detailed system-level specifications to guide product development, integration, and QA teams in creating golden unit tests, reference data, and sample libraries to aid integration of security technologies across boundaries (e.g., client/server).
- Drive security requirements and architecture into custom silicon designed through external vendors.
- Champion adoption of leading security technologies across multiple product categories through interpersonal and technical collaboration.
- Identify emerging threats and mitigation techniques as the external landscape evolves and drive architecture evolution to stay ahead of the industry.
- BS degree.
- Experience with basic cryptographic principles (e.g., symmetric vs asymmetric crypto, encryption vs authentication, and/or PKI implementations).
- Experience with platform security primitives (e.g., Secure Boot, Secure Update, Secure Communication, secure lifecycle management).
- Experience in threat modeling system designs spanning software, hardware, and system design.
- MS or PhD and 20+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in biometrics, user identification and authentication, imaging/camera security, and/or Wi-Fi/BT/UWB security.
- Experience communicating technical details to non-technical audiences and leading cross-functional initiatives to define and productize security features.
- Experience working with hardware architecture and design teams to define security solutions.
- Ability to analyze security properties of a system and evaluate security policy requests via an established security architecture specification.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Privacy, Safety, Service, Manufacturing, Software, and Product teams to resolve system-level security issues.
- Proven innovation in product/silicon/software security (e.g., patents, publications).
- Programming and/or auditing experience with Python, C, and Unix shell scripting.
Base pay ranges between $212,000 and $318,400 and varies by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees may participate in discretionary stock programs and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
