The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) in Pasadena, CA seeks a Quantum Applied Scientist to join its Test and Measurement group. The role focuses on calibrating and optimizing integrated quantum processors, developing software‑driven measurement techniques, and driving research that aligns with the engineering roadmap.
Key Job Responsibilities- Develop novel calibration and optimization routines for quantum processors.
- Test and validate experimental routines on processors housed in a cryogenic environment.
- Automate calibration workflows to verify performance of processors at scale.
- Contribute to quantum error correction demonstrations.
- Lead high‑impact research projects that intersect with engineering milestones.
- Collaborate with Software Development Engineers to create and test calibration tools.
- Work with System Engineers to define component‑level requirements as processors scale.
- Engage with quantum error correction theorists to evaluate and improve logical performance.
- 3+ years building models for business applications.
- PhD or Master’s degree and 4+ years experience in computer science, electrical engineering, machine learning, or related field.
- Experience with patents or peer‑reviewed publications.
- Programming experience in Java, C++, Python or related language.
- Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high‑performance computing.
- Experience using Unix/Linux.
- Professional software development experience.
