Role Description The Training Infrastructure Engineer – Tech Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Mountain View, CA. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports training workloads, including compute, storage, and networking resources. The Tech Lead will oversee system administration activities, implement and monitor network security controls, and ensure high availability and performance for training environments.
Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues, optimizing resource usage, automating deployment and maintenance processes, and collaborating with development and ML teams to align infrastructure with training needs. The role also involves mentoring engineers, setting technical standards, and leading initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, and security across the training platform.
Qualifications
- Strong infrastructure and system administration skills, including experience with servers, storage, virtualization, and Linux-based environments.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex system, network, and performance issues.
- Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and load balancing in production environments.
- Experience with network security practices, such as firewalls, VPNs, access controls, encryption, and security monitoring.
- Background in designing and operating large-scale or high-availability training or compute platforms is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, or similar) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, mentor teammates, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
