Job Description & How to Apply Below

Avalink is a forward-thinking technology company partnering with Fortune 500 companies to build innovative software and data solutions. We focus on health-focused initiatives that turn complex data into products promoting healthier behaviors and actionable insights.

Role Description

As a Senior Data Scientist
, you will work directly with a Fortune 100 company to design and lead experiments using data from their ecosystem — including sensor data, derived health metrics, and user-provided inputs — to build meaningful health products. You will apply rigorous experimental thinking to determine what these data streams reveal about a person’s health, what behavioral and physiological constructs they can credibly measure, and how those insights translate into products people actually use.

You will analyze complex datasets, evaluate signal reliability, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to turn findings into actionable health solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • MS in a quantitative field
—ideally related to quantitative psychology, health behavior, or a related discipline with strong training in statistical or methodological techniques (including statistics, applied statistics, econometrics, or biostatistics)
  • 2+ years of professional experience beyond terminal degree
  • Strong experience designing experiments and studies with behavioral and health data, particularly observational or longitudinal designs
  • Experience translating research findings into product or intervention recommendations
  • Strong quantitative fluency—comfortable with machine learning models, longitudinal methods, and real-world, messy datasets
  • Excellent written communication—able to produce clear, actionable deliverables for technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in quantitative psychology, health behavior, or related field with strong methodological training (any kind of statistics or applied statistics counts here, such as econometrics or biostatistics)
  • Experience working with intensive longitudinal data, ecological momentary assessment, or passively sensed behavioral data
  • Familiarity with just-in-time adaptive interventions or digital health intervention frameworks
  • Experience shipping or significantly shaping a health product or feature
  • Experience in 0-to-1 product environments or incubation environments
  • Experience collaborating with clinicians
