Security & Safety Officer
The Security & Safety Officer ensures a safe environment for residents, guests, and employees while meeting or exceeding expectations.

Daily Responsibilities- Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action.
- Provide security services as designated and secure community assets by performing scheduled locking and unlocking duties.
- Ensure compliance with emergency, security, safety, and loss prevention policies; adhere to universal precautions and infection control guidelines.
- Practice positive resident and guest relations; ensure appropriate feedback is directed to supervisor.
- Patrol the community to prevent and discover activity violating criminal, fire, or safety codes; report dangerous conditions. (Foot patrol and vehicle patrol.)
- Respond to emergency or security calls and complaints, handle on-scene situations until relieved by higher authority; take proper actions at incident scenes, notify Police/Fire and prepare reports.
- Respond to resident disturbances and emergency calls; adjudicate incidents tactfully and contact authorities as needed.
- Patrol the concierge/reception area, monitor building and resident safety systems, responding promptly to emergencies.
- Practice and enforce all safety rules; execute fire emergency procedures.
- Carry all required equipment and forms as prescribed.
- Follow emergency night procedures to answer responses, including guiding AL staff to IL residence and directing emergency vehicles to location.
- Properly utilize smartphone, 2‑way radio, and computers as required.
- Report in writing any loss or damage of assigned equipment.
- Document all life safety systems and security requirements properly.
- Transport residents, employees, and packages on campus as needed.
- Perform light maintenance duties in the absence of maintenance personnel.
- Understand and follow instructions in English; communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, and residents; perform simple math and complete required forms.
- Assess emergency situations, make clear judgment calls based on policy, and take prompt action.
- Competent in FEMA/CERT incident command level.
- Effectively manage conflict.
- Work compassionately with the elderly.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Perform rounds of facility and grounds, on and off trails, at night and day.
- Maintain a valid CA driver’s license and adhere to company driver testing and policies.
- Maintain Guard Card, First Response Training, CPR for Healthcare Providers, CERT.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
