Summary The Apple Services Engineering team powers the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Games, and more. They operate at scale with high performance to deliver entertainment in 35+ languages to 150+ countries. These engineers build secure, end-to-end solutions, including the software to process creative work, tools for providers to deliver media, server-side systems, and APIs for Apple services. The team collaborates across hardware, software, and services to support a unified vision and a strong commitment to Apple’s privacy policy.

Description As a team member of the ASE Data Engineering team, you will have significant responsibility and influence in shaping its future direction. This role is inherently cross-functional and the ideal candidate will work across disciplines. We are looking for someone with a love for data and the ability to iterate quickly on all stages of the data pipeline. This position involves working on a small team to develop large-scale data pipelines and analytical solutions using Big Data technologies.

Successful candidates will have strong engineering skills and communication, as well as a belief that data-driven processes lead to phenomenal products. You will need a passion for quality and an ability to understand sophisticated systems.

• BS in Computer Science or a related field with 5+ years experience.
• Strong technical knowledge in Java, Scala, SQL.
• Multi-year experience with Big Data technologies like Spark batch, Spark streaming, Flink and Hadoop ecosystem.
• Experience integrating messaging technologies like Kafka.
• Effectively collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, collaborators, partners, etc.
• Enjoys deep technical and product discussions. Has attention to detail and can context switch across multiple projects.

• MS in Computer Science or a related field with 7+ years experience.
• Experience leading complex engineering projects from inception to production across organizational boundaries.
• Exceptional analytical skills combined with a deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Can see the big picture, set a vision, and grow the team and platform in accordance to that vision.
• Excellent communication skills. Can effectively communicate complex ideas and make compelling arguments — guiding the team, partners and leadership.
• Deep experience in designing and implementing scalable big data solutions that span multi-functional teams.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
