Principal Software Engineer – Foundation

Apple is looking for an experienced database Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of Apple’s cloud services. You will be working on a core component of the iCloud Platform that makes Apple’s experiences so phenomenal. This role involves significant individual responsibility and influence over backend direction, powering critical services for years to come.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and operate highly scalable distributed systems.
- Drive the full cycle of efficiency improvements: setting up test cluster environments, benchmarking, visualizing results, tracing, debugging, and making code changes.
- Leverage Foundation
DB’s simulation testing framework to ensure correctness and drive improvements. - Communicate across cross‑functional teams and influence product direction.
- 15+ years proven experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a multi‑functional organization through communication and delivery.
- Desire and ability to independently learn.
- Ability to drive a project from a simple idea to production.
- User‑experience oriented, with priority on data privacy.
- Proficiency in C++ and Swift.
- Experience with No
SQL, SQL, or other modern data storage systems. - Knowledge of security, privacy, and distributed systems.
Base pay range: $207,800 – $378,700. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses or commission payments, and possibly relocation assistance.
