Principal Software Engineer – Foundation

Apple is looking for an experienced database Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of Apple’s cloud services. You will be working on a core component of the iCloud Platform that makes Apple’s experiences so phenomenal. This role involves significant individual responsibility and influence over backend direction, powering critical services for years to come.

• Design, implement, and operate highly scalable distributed systems.
• Drive the full cycle of efficiency improvements: setting up test cluster environments, benchmarking, visualizing results, tracing, debugging, and making code changes.
• Leverage Foundation
  
  DB’s simulation testing framework to ensure correctness and drive improvements.
• Communicate across cross‑functional teams and influence product direction.

• 15+ years proven experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a multi‑functional organization through communication and delivery.
• Desire and ability to independently learn.
• Ability to drive a project from a simple idea to production.
• User‑experience oriented, with priority on data privacy.

• Proficiency in C++ and Swift.

Base pay range: $207,800 – $378,700. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses or commission payments, and possibly relocation assistance.
