AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running. The AWS Hardware Engineering team creates server designs for Amazon’s web services, driving system innovation in the servers used by EC2, S3, Cloud Front, and more.
This role focuses on embedded software development for server firmware.
As an Embedded Software Development Engineer, you will work with world‑class software developers to build, validate, and support firmware across diverse technology domains, from embedded software to large‑scale distributed systems, utilizing proprietary and open‑source technologies.
Key Job Responsibilities- Steward the Server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) software.
- Develop scripting languages for system automation.
- Support data center operations through software solutions.
- Create and maintain Linux drivers.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience leading teams as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
- Experience through the full software development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
The base salary range for this position is USD – annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Additionally, Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
