Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. The Embedded Software Development Engineer in the AWS Firmware team will build and own server-related firmware, working with a world‑class team of developers to create innovative, scalable solutions for real‑world data center infrastructure problems.
Key Job Responsibilities- Develop Server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) software.
- Create and maintain embedded system firmware.
- Write and support scripting languages.
- Provide Data Center Operation Support.
- Design and implement Linux drivers.
As an experienced Embedded Software Development Engineer, you will build and own server‑related firmware, collaborating across AWS to deliver innovative, high‑quality components that drive critical business strategies. You will validate and support firmware across embedded and distributed systems using proprietary and open‑source technologies.
About The TeamThe AWS Firmware team drives system innovation in servers used by all Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, and Cloud Front. Our engineers solve complex technology problems that fuse software, hardware, and the cloud. In addition to the firmware work, you’ll collaborate with hardware, network, security, and operations experts to deliver the highest standards of safety, security, and cost‑efficiency.
Basic Qualifications- 2+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
- 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
- Experience debugging, profiling, and implementing best software engineering practices in large‑scale systems.
- Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles.
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++ programming.
- 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Master's degree or equivalent.
