AWS Nitro is the underlying platform for our next‑generation EC2 instances, combining custom AWS hardware and software to deliver security and performance indistinguishable from bare metal. As a member of the Nitro team, you will be a thought leader supporting the ground‑up development of key features that offload and accelerate I/O for functions, provide security chips that enable the most secure cloud platform, and build lightweight hypervisors that manage memory and CPU allocation, delivering bare‑metal performance at scale.

This role offers a unique blend of hands‑on development and leadership responsibilities. For candidates interested in management, there may be opportunities to transition into a full Software Development Manager role in the future, depending on individual performance and career goals. However, this is optional, and the core focus remains on technical leadership and hands‑on development within the AWS Nitro Cards team.

• Actively contribute to software development across all verticals, from Linux services and drivers, related applications, Nitro card integration, and platform bring‑ups.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to align development efforts with broader organizational goals.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to Nitro Cards and AWS infrastructure.
• Actively code and contribute to the development process while coordinating with other teams to ensure new AWS platforms are delivered to the market on time.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 3+ years of engineering experience
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience
• 3+ years of experience with programming languages C or C++

• Experience in embedded development with C/C++ or writing low‑level drivers
• Experience with the Linux kernel
