Overview
Apple seeks an experienced database Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of Apple’s cloud services, focusing on the iCloud platform through the FoundationDB system.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain the FoundationDB system to support Apple’s critical services.
- Drive the full cycle of performance improvements, including scaling, reducing latency, improving availability, and reducing costs.
- Leverage the unique simulation testing framework to ensure correctness and reliability.
- Influence the direction of the backend, playing a key role in the service architecture for millions of users.
- Experience managing technical and organizational complexity, driving projects from concept to production.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships across diverse teams.
- Flexibility in problem‑solving and a track record of innovative solutions.
- Curiosity and the ability to self‑learn independently.
- Familiarity with No
SQL or other modern data storage systems, including expertise in replication, consensus, and transactions.
- 7+ years of industry experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
- Experience with programming languages such as C++.
- Experience in performance benchmarking, debugging, and tuning distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering‑related field or equivalent experience.
Base pay range $184,700–$324,800, determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple offers discretionary stock programs, restricted stock unit awards, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan. The role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or relocation assistance.
