Pipeline / Terminal Operator II

This field‑based role operates and maintains pipeline facilities and terminals, ensuring the accurate and safe transportation and storage of petroleum products.
Responsibilities- Perform daily inspections and minor maintenance on tanks, valves, and equipment.
- Calibrate and maintain safety, spill response, and measurement equipment.
- Ensure daily security and SPCC/EPA regulatory inspections are performed.
- Monitor and maintain station activity reporting and related documentation.
- Control pipeline inlet and outlet product flows during normal operations and respond to abnormal and emergency conditions.
- Safely operate rotating equipment, LACT, metering systems, and hydrocarbon drain systems.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on pumps, motors, injectors, valves, and meters.
- Coordinate third‑party ground disturbance inspections and damage prevention activities.
- Develop and execute Energy Isolation Plans to ensure zero energy before maintenance releases.
- Assist in training new employees and identify potential conflicts or operational problems.
- Direct or supervise company‑hired contractors and conduct contractor safety tail‑gate meetings.
- Participate in Incident Command System activities during response planning, exercises, or incident response.
- Conduct effective shift turnovers and respond to abnormal and emergency events.
- Demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with Plains’ safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional pipeline/terminal related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience at the Pipeline/Terminal Operator II level.
- Ability to read and interpret pipeline maps, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Proficiency in operating compressors, pumps, metering and sampling systems.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and data entry into plant systems.
- Knowledge of PHMSA and OSHA regulations and facility work authorization permits.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol policy and pre‑employment screening.
- Outstanding safety record and ability to perform hazardous material training.
- Ability to work in moderate to heavy physically demanding outdoor conditions with extremes of heat and cold.
