K-12 Paraprofessional
Location:
All Tallmadge City Schools Buildings
Job Type: 185 days per year
Salary:
Starting at $15.86 per hour, based on experience
Job Summary:
The K-12 Paraprofessional provides instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of a licensed teacher. The paraprofessional assists in classroom activities, student supervision, and individualized student support to promote a positive learning environment. This role plays a crucial part in fostering student success and ensuring a well-managed educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
* Provide individualized or small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
* Support students with special needs, including physical, behavioral, or academic assistance.
* Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds.
* Help maintain a structured and safe classroom environment.
* Prepare learning materials and resources for classroom activities.
* Assist in managing student behavior and reinforcing positive discipline strategies.
* Monitor student progress and communicate observations to teachers.
* Support students with daily living skills as needed.
* Follow all school policies, procedures, and confidentiality regulations.
Specialized Support Areas:
Mild/Moderate Classrooms:
* Provide academic and behavioral support to students with mild to moderate disabilities.
* Assist in adapting curriculum and classroom materials to meet individual student needs.
* Facilitate social and emotional learning interventions.
* Encourage student independence and self-regulation strategies.
Moderate to Intensive Classrooms:
* Work closely with students requiring significant academic and behavioral support.
* Assist with daily living skills, mobility, and personal care tasks as needed.
* Implement behavior intervention plans under teacher supervision.
* Utilize specialized equipment and assistive technology to support student learning.
* Foster a highly structured and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Associate's degree or 48 semester hours of college coursework preferred.
* Valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit (or ability to obtain one).
* Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to follow teacher instructions and work collaboratively with staff.
* Patience, adaptability, and a passion for supporting student learning.
Physical and Other Requirements:
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift light classroom materials.
* Capability to assist students with mobility and daily tasks as needed.
* Background check and fingerprinting required per Ohio state regulations
