Customer focused manufacturer is seeking a degreed chemist with a few years of architectural coatings experience to work on formulating new products and updating existing products. Our client offers excellent benefits and everyday offers a change in projects.
Duties:- Develop new formulas based on organizational needs, sample requests, and product specifications.
- Analyze existing formulas to identify areas requiring improvement, modification, or additional testing.
- Perform quality assurance testing and establish acceptance criteria throughout testing and production cycles.
- Report and analyze test results for fellow Chemists, Laboratory personnel, Sales team members, and customers.
- Follow production batches and assist Production with process or quality problems as needed.
- Identify issues with current products, materials, and tools and develop solutions.
- Operate basic laboratory equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate and participate in adherence to applicable international, federal, state, and local chemical regulations.
- Support company-wide compliance with product stewardship requirements, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and GHS.
- Review supplier and company SDSs and ensure accurate information is reflected in labels, Cimpro, Formulator, Sage X-3 shipping sheets, and transportation documentation.
- Consult with associates and supervisors regarding safety, chemical, or handling concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all prescribed safety rules.
- Stay current on industry trends, scientific literature, alternative materials, and emerging technologies.
- Research new materials, equipment, and technologies to develop new formula prototypes for review and testing.
- Travel to customer locations and trade shows to meet with technical and non-technical representatives regarding products, applications, and customer needs.
- Communicate effectively with Sales and directly with customers to ensure project advancement.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Benefits Available TechnicalQualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field
- Strong formulation and product development experience
- Paint and coatings experience strongly preferred
- Waterborne and/or solvent borne formulation experience
- Direct-to-metal coating experience preferred
- Experience modifying formulations based on customer requirements
- Quality assurance and laboratory testing experience
- Production batch support and troubleshooting
- Basic laboratory equipment experience
- Ability to research raw materials, equipment, and emerging technologies
- Knowledge of chemical safety and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, DOT, GHS, and product stewardship requirements
- SDS experience
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel up to 10%
