Public Health Nurse, Pediatric Nurse
Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of students while supporting their ability to learn and thrive in a Catholic educational environment. This position plays a vital role in fostering student wellness, managing health needs, responding to medical emergencies, and collaborating with families and faculty to ensure students receive appropriate care.
Primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive nursing services, promoting preventative health practices, and serving as a trusted health resource for students, families, and staff through a lens of Ignatian spirituality rooted in our Jesuit, Catholic identity.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Principal of Discipline and Safety, the nurse will provide quality healthcare services that support student success and the mission of Walsh Jesuit High School as part of the school’s Academic Administrative team.
The work schedule for this 10+ month position generally mirrors the school’s academic calendar with the expectation that the nurse will work all days that classes are in session, including staff training and retreat days, and preparatory time before/after classes begin/end in the fall and spring.
Major Responsibilities- Student Health Services - Provide comprehensive nursing care to students for illness, injury, and medical concerns. Assess student health needs, administer prescribed medications and treatments, manage care for students with chronic medical conditions and disabilities, and maintain accurate, confidential health records.
- Health Collaboration & Wellness - Collaborate with parents, physicians, counselors, teachers, and administrators to develop and implement individualized student care plan based on assessment. Conduct health screenings, monitor immunization compliance, promote wellness and preventative health initiatives, and serve as the liaison between families, healthcare providers, and the school.
- School Safety & Emergency Preparedness - Respond to medical emergencies and support school emergency preparedness efforts. Coordinate and provide CPR, AED, and basic first aid training for faculty and staff, while maintaining emergency medical supplies and supporting school health and safety protocols.
- Faith Formation – Embrace, display, and support Catholic/Christian values and spiritual formation. Participate regularly in Ignatian formation activities including the school’s formal formation program, school masses, retreats, and other activities/events as scheduled
- Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Ohio Provisional School Nurse Certificate preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, preferably in a school setting.
- Current BLS Instructor or CPR/AED Instructor certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
- Experience working effectively with adolescents (ages 14–18).
- Training in Mental Health First Aid preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, clinical assessment, and organizational skills.
