The Accounting Reconciliations Research Analyst is responsible for investigating, analyzing, and resolving account reconciliation discrepancies. This role supports accurate financial reporting by performing detailed research on outstanding balances, identifying root causes of variances, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of accounting issues.
Key Responsibilities- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Research and investigate unreconciled transactions, variances, and aging items.
- Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and potential risks.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and business partners to resolve reconciliation issues.
- Document findings, adjustments, and corrective actions in accordance with company policies.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to reconciliation adjustments as required.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain detailed reconciliation documentation and audit-ready records.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests.
Recommend process improvements to enhance reconciliation accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting, reconciliation, or financial analysis experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. - Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.), and reconciliation tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with high-volume account reconciliations.
- Knowledge of SOX controls and audit requirements.
- Experience utilizing data analysis and reporting tools.
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong process optimization skills.
