Salary: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lecture or laboratory parity unit; $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per lab unit.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

Essential Functions

Examples of essential functions are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in political science, government, or international relations
  • OR Bachelor’s in any of the above and a Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
  • OR a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
  • OR equivalent qualifications determined by the District Equivalency Committee
  • Commitment to diversity – demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of contemporary political issues and their application to classroom instruction
  • Teaching experience at the community college level
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction, student motivation, and academic excellence
  • Experience with innovative and creative teaching methods
  • Proficiency in the use of computers/technology in teaching
  • Experience with multiple instructional modalities
  • Experience preparing students for CSU and UC pathways
  • Experience supporting the success and retention of diverse student populations
