Special Instructions Summary
This continuous recruitment remains active for one year from the position opening date, but may close sooner if no longer needed. Job Description
- Courses to teach may include:
- Biology 210 – Anatomy & Physiology
- Biology 231 – General Human Anatomy
- Biology 241 – General Human Physiology
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in any biological science
- or Bachelor’s in any biological science and Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science
- or a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area, or equivalent qualifications determined by the District Equivalency Committee
- demonstrated commitment to diversity, with sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
Desirable Qualifications
- Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in biology, particularly as it relates to relevance to students’ lives, interests, and communities; demonstrated ability to address equity gaps of racially minoritized groups within biology
- Experience collaborating with full‑time and adjunct faculty to maintain currency of curriculum that responds to the needs of historically underrepresented students
- Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities
