Salary Range: $1572.67 – $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 – $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 – $1380.60 per lab unit rate

Special Instructions Summary

This continuous recruitment remains active for one year from the position opening date, but may close sooner if no longer needed. Job Description

  • Courses to teach may include:
    • Biology 210 – Anatomy & Physiology
    • Biology 231 – General Human Anatomy
    • Biology 241 – General Human Physiology

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s in any biological science
  • or Bachelor’s in any biological science and Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science
  • or a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area, or equivalent qualifications determined by the District Equivalency Committee
  • demonstrated commitment to diversity, with sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff

Desirable Qualifications

  • Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in biology, particularly as it relates to relevance to students’ lives, interests, and communities; demonstrated ability to address equity gaps of racially minoritized groups within biology
  • Experience collaborating with full‑time and adjunct faculty to maintain currency of curriculum that responds to the needs of historically underrepresented students
  • Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities
