Journalism Instructor Pool – Part‑Time
Part‑time teaching assignments for journalism at North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD). Faculty are called to teach from a pool when there is a need for lecture or lab instruction in journalism.
Job DescriptionMay be asked to teach days, evenings, hybrid/online, and the dual enrollment program. Online or hybrid instruction requires additional campus‑based training. Duties include preparing course materials, delivering lectures, assessing student work, and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
Essential Functions- Teach journalism courses in lecture and lab settings.
- Develop syllabi, assignments, and assessments that meet department standards.
- Use online/hybrid platforms and provide campus‑based training when required.
- Maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback to students.
- Master’s degree in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism, or
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communication, plus
- Master’s degree in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, social science, business, marketing, graphics, or photography.
- Valid California teaching credential for community college in the appropriate subject area, or equivalent experience as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity: knowledge of and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community‑college students, faculty, and staff.
- Success in teaching arts students from underrepresented, non‑traditional, multilingual, or learning‑disability populations.
