Primary Purpose

Duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify assignments and duties in accordance with operational needs.

Special Requirements

All awarded degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. Transcripts must be submitted; grade cards will not be accepted. Evaluations of foreign degrees are required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in any biological science
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science
  • OR possession of a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject area; or equivalent qualifications determined by the District Equivalency Committee

Desirable Qualifications
  • Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in biology, particularly as it relates to the relevance of biology to students’ lives, interests, and communities; demonstrated ability to address equity gaps of racially minoritized groups within biology.
  • Experience working collaboratively with full‑time and adjunct faculty to coordinate and maintain a curriculum that responds to the needs of historically underrepresented students.
  • Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities.
Salary Range

$1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lecture unit rate; $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lab parity unit rate; $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per lab unit rate.
