Biology Instructor Pool-Part-Time (Anatomy & Physiology)

This is a continuous recruitment to fill part‑time and temporary faculty assignments on an as‑needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part‑time faculty.

About the Role

Primary Purpose Duties and responsibilities are representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in Biology, including Biology 210 – Anatomy & Physiology, Biology 231 – General Human Anatomy, and Biology 241 – General Human Physiology.
Qualifications
  • Master’s in any biological science OR Bachelor’s in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area OR the equivalent.
  • Minimum required transcripts must be from accredited postsecondary institutions. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity, including sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in culturally responsive teaching in biology and addressing equity gaps for racially minoritized groups.
  • Experience collaborating with full‑time and adjunct faculty to maintain curriculum that meets the needs of historically underrepresented students.
  • Demonstrated success in assisting students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, foreign language speakers, and students with learning disabilities.
