Position SummaryPerforms a wide variety of patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician, within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Ace and regulatory standards for a Hospital Outpatient Department (HOD). Prioritizes and assists in patient triage processing, preparation, and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, and patient education.
Supervises other LVNs and care associates/medical assistants, monitoring daily performance to ensure documentation and quality standards are met while coordinating patient flow. Demonstrates competence and sensitivity in caring for multicultural patients and families, adapting care plans based on identified cultural needs. Works collaboratively with providers, residents, clinical staff and other disciplines in the health care team to deliver safe and efficient patient-centered care.
Job Outcomes/Functions
- Maintains clinical workflows by coordinating and assuring accurate clinical team coverage needed to support providers and deliver safe patient care.
- Monitors daily performance of the clinical team to ensure delivery of efficient quality care.
- Trains the clinical team in workflows to perform required job duties.
- Provides review of clinical skills and performance abilities using designated evaluation tools.
- Provides coaching and counseling according to organizational policies and procedures to improve performance under the direction of the Clinical Operations Manager.
- Assists with controlling wage and non-wage expenses including pharmacy and supplies in accordance with the guidelines set by the organization.
- Provides direct and indirect patient care with the scope of the LVN.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
* Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years 20 experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
QualificationsQualifications/Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant clinical setting preferred. Pediatric or Pediatric Specialty experience required.
- Minimum 3 years leading and/or training junior staff preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification
- Graduate from a school or program of vocational nursing required.
- Current licensure to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in California required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Blood / IV certification required.
