Parts Specialist

Raymond West is seeking a dynamic Parts Specialist to join our team. The role involves handling customer calls, working with vendors, and managing over‑the‑counter parts sales while maintaining inventory, cost control, and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities- Accept telephone, e‑mail and counter orders for external customers and company technicians, and fill orders from stock.
- Research replacement parts using parts manuals, computer listings, or microfiche.
- Discuss use and features of various parts with customers.
- Fill customer orders from stock or by special order and order parts for stock replenishment.
- Advise customers on substitution or modification when a replacement is not available.
- Update customers regarding the status of backordered parts in an acceptable time frame.
- Prepare sales orders for invoicing, receive payment, and obtain credit authorization when necessary.
- Participate in general inventories and cycle counts as needed.
- Initiate proper documentation to maintain accurate inventory and sales records.
- Work with and support other Parts Sales Specialists regarding the sale of material handling equipment.
- Handle telephone calls, customer counter interactions, and promote overall sales.
- Assist Parts Sales Representatives with order entry, consignment replenishments, and consignment maintenance.
- Distribute and explain Raymond Corporation Service and Parts Bulletins to other parts staff.
- Assist at back counter and in the stockroom as directed; press tires as needed.
- Actively participate in Parts Department training and meetings.
- Perform various duties directly or indirectly associated with parts sales activity as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective speaking skills before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
- Willingness to work off‑hours as needed and assume additional responsibility.
- Capacity to operate safely while maintaining alertness.
- General understanding of machine parts and their functions.
- Effective communication with employees, manufacturers, and vendors at all levels.
- Willingness to learn new computer programs, inventory procedures, parts manuals, and price books.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision, adapt to changes, and demonstrate drive and initiative.
- Well‑organized and tidy work area; neat professional appearance.
- Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a professional attitude.
- Motivation for continuous self‑development and training; quick learning and accurate performance.
- Compliance with the employee handbook.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
- Non‑sedentary position.
- Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision; ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional exposure to smell.
- Requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather, electrical shock, wet or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment can be loud.
- Hourly range: $24.00 – $30.00. Pay may vary based on experience, education, and location. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
