Software Engineering Lead

Job Summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a Software Engineer to lead a collaborative engineering team focused on designing, developing, integrating, and testing software solutions for embedded and enterprise systems. This role offers hands‑on experience across the full development lifecycle in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.

• Lead the software development team in task planning, status tracking, and delegation.
• Manage large projects or processes with limited oversight from a manager.
• Coach, review, and delegate work for lower‑level professionals.
• Influence teammates regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
• Define software development plan, test plan, and design software architecture.
• Manage software configuration items and formally release software.
• Support design teams in hardware bring‑up and system‑level validation of products.
• Collaborate with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to enhance and support product development.
• Partner with test engineering, systems engineering, and customer support teams to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve customer issues.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• Typically requires 10+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with C++ object‑oriented programming.
• Experience with embedded programming on hardware.
• Experience working in Linux environments.
• Government security clearance required; only U.S. citizens may be eligible.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience with ANSI C and Python.
• Experience with C# and Windows Presentation Framework (WPF).
• Experience with object‑oriented design patterns.
• Experience with Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
• Experience with lab equipment for data collection and processing.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

This position requires you to access information that is subject to U.S. export regulations. Access is limited to qualified U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or those eligible for required authorizations.

• $75,000.00–$ annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees.
• $84,000.00–$ annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA.
• $88,500.00–$ annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in NJ.

Mercury considers a variety of factors to determine individual base salary offers to candidates, including role and related responsibilities; prior work experience; education, training, skills and certifications; internal equity with others employed by Mercury in similar roles; geographic location; and alignment with market data.
