Position: 2026-2027 School Psychologist

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited university with an emphasis in school psychology, educational psychology, or a related field preferred;
  • Texas licensure as a licensed specialist in school psychology (L.S.S.P.) already received or in the application process;
  • Demonstrated skillset in leading, motivating, supporting, and working collaboratively with others;
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing psychological services in a school setting. This may include LSSP internship experience;
  • Knowledge of Special Education service delivery.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct individual, group, or facilitative counseling for both regular and special education students who have been referred for these services by appropriate school personnel.
  • Maintain case records on all referred students.
  • Confer with teachers and parents of students upon request.
  • Provide consultation services to the teachers and supervisors of the adaptive behavior program.
  • Assist parents of emotionally disturbed students through consultation and facilitation of various parent groups.
  • Interprets school psychological services to school personnel and parents.
  • Interfaces with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
  • Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings as requested.
  • Assist with in-service training of school personnel as requested.
  • Conduct appropriate research as requested.
  • Assess referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices and follow-through referred cases to the termination.
  • Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) committee meetings for emotionally disturbed students and other special education students, when appropriate.
  • Intervene with students in crises to successfully reduce the negative impact of stressful events.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment:
Frequent district-wide travel

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
