• Attendance: Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
• Instructional Strategies: Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements; plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology; conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities; work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed; work with other staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Student Growth and Development: Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing; assume responsibility for approved extracurricular activities or outside activities for which you are the sponsor; present a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.
• Classroom Management and Organization: Create classroom environment conducive to learning; manage student behavior according to the district’s Student Code of Conduct; take precautions to protect students, equipment, and materials; assist in selecting instructional materials; compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
• Communication: Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
• Professional Growth and Development: Participate in staff development; comply with regulations; attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Other: Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct the work of assigned instructional aides, if assigned.
• Physical / Mental Demands: Use personal computer and standard instructional equipment; prolonged standing and frequent kneeling/squatting; frequent walking; light lifting up to 15 pounds; work inside and outside; noise exposure; maintain emotional control under stress; may work irregular hours.
