Secondary Special Education English Language Arts Curriculum Coach
Starting Date: Immediately
Job Description Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
- Texas certification in Elementary or Secondary Education;
- Texas certification in an area of special education preferred;
- A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher;
- Successful experience with at‑risk students, flexible regrouping and writing instruction knowledge;
- Demonstrated skill in leading, motivating, coaching and teaching other teachers.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of state testing program including accommodations.
Salary
$67,640/IA-3
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year
Essential Functions- Provide direct coaching, staff development, modeling, and campus consultation in the implementation of effective research‑based instructional strategies and interventions of the English Language Arts TEKS
- Work with special education and general education curriculum coaches, coordinators, teachers, and administrators to facilitate the implementation of interventions.
- Consult with campus staff to interpret the TEKS, analyze reading/writing assessment results, and plan effective instruction to meet individual IEPs.
- Collaborate with special education curriculum coordinators and reading coaches to analyze assessment results and plan effective interventions for the instructional targets.
- Assist in the selection and implementation of reading/language arts materials.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the assistant superintendent for educational support services, the director and assistant director of special education, or the special education curriculum coordinators.
- Attend and contribute to campus team planning sessions.
- Assist in the development of accommodations and modifications of assessments that are appropriate in depth and complexity of content as well as aligned with TEKS.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Preference will be given to CFISD employees.
