Qualifications
- Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
- Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must have one of the following:
- 48 hours of college credits
- Associates or higher degree
- Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above)

Salary/Pay Grade$21,739 /IP-2 as approved by the Board of Trustees.
Soc aides earn an additional $1,000 annual stipend.
- Help teacher prepare and adapt instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies.
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
- Help manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
- Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
- Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, playground duty and travel to on-the-job training.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or other school personnel supervisor.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
- Tools/Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students. - Posture:
Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. - Motion:
Frequent walking and reaching. - Lifting:
May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non-ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours. - Environment:
Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise, exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases). - Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
