Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited university with an emphasis in school psychology, educational psychology, or a related field preferred;
- Texas licensure as a licensed specialist in school psychology (L.S.S.P.) already received or in the application process;
- Demonstrated skillset in leading, motivating, supporting, and working collaboratively with others;
- Minimum of one year of experience providing psychological services in a school setting. This may include LSSP internship experience;
- Knowledge of Special Education service delivery.
Probationary/Term
Contract:
197 days
- Conduct individual, group, or facilitative counseling for both regular and special education students who have been referred for these services by appropriate school personnel.
- Maintain case records on all referred students.
- Confer with teachers and parents of students upon request.
- Provide consultation services to the teachers and supervisors of the adaptive behavior program.
- Assist parents of emotionally disturbed students through consultation and facilitation of various parent groups.
- Interprets school psychological services to school personnel and parents.
- Interfaces with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
- Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings as requested.
- Assist with in-service training of school personnel as requested.
- Conduct appropriate research as requested.
- Assess referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices and follow-through referred cases to the termination.
- Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) committee meetings for emotionally disturbed students and other special education students, when appropriate.
- Intervene with students in crises to successfully reduce the negative impact of stressful events.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
