Position: Technical Specialist III or Sr (Measurement)

Job Overview

As a Technical Specialist (Measurement), you will analyze our measurement facilities to identify deficiencies and suggest remedies, execute measurement projects of varying scope and complexity, and collaborate with the division to maintain safe and reliable measurement operations. Your responsibilities include interpreting technological aspects of business, coordinating with leadership, reviewing and auditing measurement systems, and providing training and guidance on liquid and gas measurement equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Build relationships and trust across your network.
  • Read, understand, and evaluate engineering design documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Provide measurement expertise to project execution teams during planning, especially for specialized applications, non‑standard designs, or system‑level projects (equipment specifications, design reviews, MOCs, PHAs, commissioning support).
  • Conduct fabricator, packager, and manufacturer audits and reviews.
  • Support specialized or sophisticated troubleshooting (meter proving repeatability and reproducibility issues, densitometer proving repeatability and reproducibility issues, EFM configuration and programming errors, sampler and composition errors, analyzer and product quality errors, mechanical or instrumentation issues with provers, flow transmitter configuration errors, data communications, etc.).
  • Commission new interconnects from start to finish, provide training on all installed equipment, ensure all equipment is tested and placed into service, and perform P2P checks with SCADA and Pipeline Control.
  • Efficiently and effectively resolve issues related to measurement equipment malfunctions, volumetric imbalances, quality control, and measurement analysis.
  • Perform internal inspection of meter tubes using electronic fiber scope, mechanical micrometers, and calipers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience in PLC, HMI, Allen Bradley and SCADA solutions.
  • Understanding of multipath and single‑path ultrasonic meters, gas chromatography, and sample systems.
  • Experience in natural gas measurement, metering, regulation, and gas‑quality equipment operations.
  • Familiarity with distributed control system (DCS) programming (Yokogawa).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with AGA standards (AGA3, AGA7, AGA8, AGA9) and API
    21.1.
  • Ability to solve pneumatic control system issues.
  • Understanding of AC and DC electronics.
Education & Experience
  • Required:

    Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of six (6) years in the oil & gas industry.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive field‑operations/construction or other technical‑specialty experience.
  • Preferred:
    Extensive experience with flow computers such as Auto Pilot Pro, Flo Boss
    107, ROC
    809, ROC
    827, FB2200, Flow‑X, OMNI
    6000E.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces.
  • Carry or lift items up to 50lbs.
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for long periods.
  • Work at elevated levels, possibly from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, or small towers, with appropriate PPE.
  • Use hand tools.
Shift, Hours & Travel
  • Travel 50%–75% within state.
  • Available to work after hours as needed.
  • May be required to work over‑time.
Additional Requirements
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as a main priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC skills.
