Job DescriptionPrimary
Purpose:
Provide leadership and supervision of front‑of‑house usher staff to ensure a safe, organized, and customer‑focused environment during VPAC events. Support seating operations, patron assistance, and overall event flow while maintaining a high level of guest service.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Strong leadership and customer service skills
- Ability to read seating charts and event diagrams
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patrons
- Ability to manage large crowds and respond to issues calmly
- Knowledge of ADA accommodations and accessibility practices preferred
Experience:
- Experience in guest services, event staff, or hospitality preferred
Terms of Employment:
This is a part‑time temporary assignment, however, the length of the temporary assignment will be determined based on event needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Pay:
$25.00/hour (Event-Based)
Essential Functions:
Front of House Operations:
- Supervise and assign usher positions for events
- Direct patrons to correct seating areas using event diagrams
- Maintain orderly and efficient seating and lobby operations
- Monitor venue access points and ensure compliance with policies
Guest Services:
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to patrons
- Address guest concerns and elevate issues when necessary
- Communicate event information clearly and accurately
Accessibility Support:
- Assist patrons with disabilities, including ADA seating and access needs
- Coordinate with ticketing and event staff for accommodations
Event Safety & Operations:
- Assist with crowd management and emergency procedures
Report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors - Support event entry, exit, and flow of guests
Team Leadership:
- Provide guidance and support to usher staff
- Ensure staff are following policies, procedures, and service standards
Additional Duties:
- Assist with training and mentoring ushers
- Support other front‑of‑house or event operations functions as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees part‑time usher staff during events
Tools/Equipment Used: Handheld radios, ticket scanners, seating charts
Posture: Standing and walking for extended periods
Motion: Frequent walking, bending, and reaching
Environment: Indoor and outdoor event environments; large crowds
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Dress Code:
- Approved VPAC uniform or designated attire
- Black pants
