Senior Practice Manager

At Houston Methodist, the Senior Practice Manager independently manages and/or coordinates complex delivery of care within a large, multi‑physician primary care, specialty, or multi‑disciplinary practice. The role supervises front‑desk, business transactions, clinical support services, compliance, safety, and customer service functions and is responsible for maximizing revenue through efficient, effective and compliant procedures. The manager collaborates with clinic medical staff and system‑wide administrative and medical staff as needed, and commits to creating a culture of compassion, integrity, innovative thinking, and leadership excellence.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post‑secondary education, etc.)
  • Experience: Five years of clinical healthcare experience, of which at least two years must have been in a managerial role; may consider Houston Methodist employees with four years of clinical experience in a relevant field with performance that demonstrates progressive leadership abilities.

  • Plans and organizes day‑to‑day department operations, schedules, and activities for staff, physicians, and associated extenders.
  • Drives department service standards and activities to impact patient/customer satisfaction scores.
  • Serves as a first‑line contact for physicians and staff, resolves patient satisfaction concerns, and channels issues through appropriate procedures.
Quality/Safety Essential Functions
  • Ensures a safe and effective working environment; monitors and revises safety plans and accreditation/regulatory requirements.
  • Optimizes information systems to enhance operations and supports performance improvement and data management.
  • Employs proactive approaches to improve safety, monitors workflow, reports near misses, and implements solutions with collaboration.
  • Monitors compliance with policies, procedures, and HR standards.
  • Analyzes performance through satisfaction systems, financial reports, and trends, and formulates action plans.
  • Monitors key clinical operational indicators such as in‑basket utilization and clinical close rate.

  • Assists in department budget development and ensures cost‑effective operations.
