Young Adults Pastor/Director
The Young Adults Pastor/Director is a visionary leader who champions the discipleship and spiritual formation of young adults (ages 18–26). This person is responsible for creating environments where young adults are known, equipped to mature in their walk with Jesus and others, discover their purpose, and become disciple-makers who influence their homes, workplaces, campuses, and communities for Christ. This role requires a gifted communicator, relational shepherd, strategic leader, and developer of volunteers and leaders who is passionate about helping young adults build authentic community and take ownership of their faith.
The Young Adults Director will report directly to the Next Gen Pastor and will oversee a team of volunteers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible to live out the mission and core values of CyLife Church, as directed by leadership. Trains and nurtures volunteer leaders to engage and equip young adults to become disciples and disciple-makers who are following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and committed to the mission of Jesus.
- Responsible for providing overall directional leadership, vision, and strategy for Young Adults Ministry.
- Responsible as the overall leader of the Young Adults Ministry, including oversight of all Young Adult key volunteer leaders.
- Responsible for helping young adults become fully engaged in the life of CyLife Church by connecting them to weekend services, small groups, serving teams, leadership development opportunities, and the broader mission of the church.
- Responsible for the continuous oversight of daily ministry operations, team meetings, leadership development, discipleship environments, and ministry events.
- Responsible for timely coaching, encouragement, and feedback for staff and volunteer leaders.
- Responsible with the Young Adults Leadership Team for evaluating all ministry environments and implementing improvements as needed.
- Responsible for partnering with the Communications Team to ensure Young Adults Ministry is promoted, visible, inviting, and relevant to young adults throughout the surrounding community.
- Responsible for developing and implementing discipleship pathways that help young adults grow spiritually through biblical teaching, authentic community, serving, generosity, and mission.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining an annual ministry strategy that promotes spiritual health, numerical growth, leadership development, and a disciple-making culture.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, equipping, and developing volunteer leaders while maintaining healthy leader-to-group ratios and leadership pipelines.
- Responsible for keeping the Next Gen Pastor informed of ministry dynamics, including spiritual health, leadership development, volunteer health, attendance trends, facilities, and overall ministry effectiveness.
- Responsible for cultivating relationships with local colleges, universities, young professionals, and the surrounding community to help connect young adults to CyLife Church.
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Young Adults gatherings, leadership nights, retreats, conferences, mission opportunities, small groups, and other strategic events.
- Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with CyLife staff, volunteers, young adults, and their families when appropriate.
- Responsible for modeling and encouraging personal spiritual growth among volunteers and young adults. Provides pastoral care, discipleship, counseling, and shepherding as appropriate.
- Responsible for overseeing the development of the annual Young Adults budget and reviewing monthly financial statements with the Next Gen Pastor to ensure budget and spending targets are achieved.
- Responsible for partnering with the Student Ministry to develop and execute an intentional transition strategy for graduating seniors entering Young Adults Ministry, while collaborating with other ministries to ensure young adults become fully integrated into the life of CyLife Church.
Qualifications
- Must be a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ and a partner of CyLife (or willing to transfer membership to CyLife).
- Must be actively involved in or leading a CyLife small group.
- Received a call from God to full-time ministry.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5 years of ministry experience (preferably in Young Adults, College, Student, or Adult Ministries), including at least 3 years of leadership experience coaching and developing volunteers and staff.
