The RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for performing either scrubbing duties, documentation of the procedure on the hemodynamic system, and circulating for diagnostic or interventional cardiology/radiology procedures. Responsibilities also include assessing the needs of the patient, providing age specific patient care based on assessment data, current knowledge/skills which include policies and procedures of the department and physician orders.
Accepts assignments that coincide with her/his experience, knowledge, and ability.
What you will do in this role:
- May perform scrubbing duties for diagnostic/interventional cardiology and radiology procedures.
- Assesses and reassesses the patient to gather data relevant to the patient’s individual, age specific needs, and disease process.
- Provides age specific patient care according to the assessment data, departmental policies and procedures and physician orders.
- Evaluates the patient’s response to interventions.
- Documents assessment data, patient care, interventions, and evaluations in the medical record.
- Documents drug procedure and equipment data required for generating patient billing information and for departmental inventory control.
- Participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning.
- Ensures a safe environment for the patient.
- Participates in teaching the patient and family.
- Quality assurance and Core Measures for Cath Lab.
- Completes continuing education and in-service training in order to maintain current knowledge or skills to perform job responsibilities.
