Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Medical Oncology and Hematology to join our team. This position will support the Gulf Coast North Region:
Cypress Northwest and Woodlands North locations.
This position will be either a level I, II or Senior based on candidate experience.

What does the Advanced Practice Provider do? (including but not limited to)Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, the APP is involved in the care of individuals, families, and patient groups dealing with cancer or related diagnoses. Care may be in clinic or virtually via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. The APP may serve as a direct caregiver, healthcare consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher.
The APP ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
- Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
- Performs procedures and mentors/trains other providers.
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
- Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Consistently incorporates evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
- Possesses in‑depth knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
- Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
- Often provides case management for patients and their families.
- Serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
- Provides palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
- Acts as subject‑matter expert, promoting and providing staff education.
- Rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after‑hours calls.
- Serves as subject‑matter expert to the community, providing education and resources as needed.
- Likely supervises clinical nursing and support staff activities.
- May serve in practice or network‑wide APP leadership role.
- May precept APP students.
- Mentors new advanced practice providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Nurse Practitioner:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum of 6 years of nurse practitioner experience, preferably in oncology or hematology. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing. Current state licensing as a Nurse Practitioner and BLS/CPR certification required. AOCNP preferred. - Physician Assistant:
Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification. Minimum of 6 years of PA experience, preferably in oncology or hematology. Current state license as a PA and BLS/CPR certification required. - Clinical Nurse Specialist:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
