Job Summary And Qualifications

The RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for performing scrubbing duties, documenting the procedure, and circulating for diagnostic or interventional cardiology/radiology procedures. Responsibilities also include assessing patient needs, providing age‑specific patient care based on assessment data, departmental policies and procedures, and physician orders. The RN accepts assignments aligned with experience and knowledge.

What you will do in this role:
  • May perform scrubbing duties for diagnostic/interventional cardiology and radiology procedures.
  • Assess and reassess the patient to gather data relevant to the patient’s individual, age‑specific needs, and disease process.
  • Provide age‑specific patient care according to assessment data, departmental policies and procedures, and physician orders.
  • Evaluate the patient’s response to interventions.
  • Document assessment data, patient care, interventions, and evaluations in the medical record.
  • Document drug, procedure and equipment data required for generating patient billing information and for departmental inventory control.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary discharge planning.
  • Ensure a safe environment for the patient.
  • Assist in teaching the patient and family.
  • Participate in quality assurance and core measures for Cath Lab.
  • Complete continuing education and in‑service training to maintain current knowledge or skills to perform job responsibilities.
  • Category I exposure tasks involve exposure to blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment is required.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
