Job Overview
Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Medical Oncology and Hematology. Position level I, II, or Senior based on candidate experience. Supports treatment in Gulf Coast North Region, covering Cypress Northwest and Woodlands North locations.
ResponsibilitiesUnder supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, provide care to patients dealing with cancer or related diagnoses.
Responsibilities include:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Initiate and document appropriate interventions, evaluate patient/family response, and prescribe therapies.
- Perform procedures and mentor/train other providers.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
- Promote wellness and recommend community resources.
- Incorporate evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
- Understand reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
- Complete patient charge capture and document in the medical record promptly.
- Provide case management for patients and families.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical trial information.
- Provide palliative care as needed.
- Act as subject‑matter expert and provide staff education.
- Provide rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after‑hours calls.
- Supervise clinical nursing and support staff activities.
- Participate in APP leadership roles and precept APP students.
- Mentor new advanced practice providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist, preferably in the chosen specialty.
- For Nurse Practitioners:
Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program, current state licensure as an NP, and current BLS/CPR certification. AOCNP preferred. - For Physician Assistants: accredited PA program, current NCCPA certification, current state license as a PA, and current BLS/CPR certification.
- For Clinical Nurse Specialists: MSN from an accredited program, current state licensure as a CNS, and current BLS/CPR certification. AOCN preferred if applicable.
- RN state licensure and registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
Full range of body motion – handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination. Ability to bend, stoop, twist; assist patients in moving; transport wheelchair patients; stand and walk for extensive periods. Occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
