Oncology Advanced Practice Provider; APP - Gulf Coast North Region

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Medical Oncology and Hematology to join our team! This position will support the Gulf Coast North Region:
Cypress Northwest and Woodlands North locations.

This position will be either a Level I, II or Senior based on candidate experience.

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, the APP is involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups dealing with cancer or related diagnoses. Care may be provided in clinic or virtually via telemedicine. Responsibilities include prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. The APP may serve as a direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher.

Responsibilities also include compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
• Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
• Performs procedures after appropriate training.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
• Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• Incorporates developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
• Develops knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
• Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
• May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
• May promote/provide staff education.
• Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.
• Other duties as assigned.

Potential candidates may be Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist with the following qualifications:

• Nurse Practitioner
  • MSN from an accredited nursing school and completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Level I: 0–3 years experience.
  • Level II: 3+ years experience.
  • Level Senior: 6+ years experience.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Physician Assistant
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current NCCPA certification.
  • Level I: 0–3 years experience.
  • Level II: 3+ years experience.
  • Level Senior: 6+ years experience.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in the practicing state.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • MSN from an accredited nursing school and completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
  • Level I: 0–3 years experience.
  • Level II: 3+ years experience.
  • Level Senior: 6+ years experience.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification.

The physical demands include full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
