Job Summary And Qualifications

As an Observation Med Surg Registered Nurse – Acute Inpatient, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."

You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What you will do in this role:
  • Assess, plan and implement the admission process.
  • Coordinate care and collaborate with other departments to ensure positive patient outcomes and that all of the needs of the patients and significant others are met.
  • Administer medications, including knowledge of actions, indications, adverse reactions, dosage, and route. Reassess patients for effectiveness of medication and document appropriately.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and case management services from the Observation Unit.
  • Maintain clear and respectful communication with patient, family, physician, and other healthcare providers. Practice excellent customer service at all times.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi‑State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 60 days of hire date).
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification is required.
  • 1 year of clinical Med Surg experience as a licensed RN in an acute care setting is required.
