Job Summary And Qualifications

Under the general direction of the VP, Perioperative Services, the nurse manager is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to perioperative patients. The nurse manager provides direction to Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care and in providing supervision of the Surgical Services area. The nurse manager supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the Hospital.

Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift with leadership call

What you will do in the role:
  • Assumes responsibility for the efficient management of designated aspects of t he Surgical Services Department in collaboration with the Vice President Perioperative Services.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of clinical components of care required in the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, or Same Day Surgery Unit to provide for direct patient care.
  • Teaches, supervises, and serves as a resource person for nursing and other staff assigned to Perioperative Services by:
    Providing ongoing supervision of patient care activities with reinforcement of correct principles, procedures, and techniques of patient care. Provides ongoing monitoring of the quality of care by nursing personnel with documentation of assessments as indicated. Provides information and helps complete evaluations of staff.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of medical/legal responsibilities to fulfill position responsibility in any position in the Operating Room, PACU, and SDS.
