Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

This dynamic role is intentionally structured to attract top-tier ER, ED, urgent care, standalone ER, and freestanding ER (FSED) RNs who thrive in fast-paced environments. Our emergency network operates 24/7, providing full-service adult and pediatric emergency care, on-site laboratory testing, and advanced imaging (CT scan, X-ray, and ultrasound).

Clinical care is delivered at our main hospital emergency department—a state-of-the-art, designated Level III Trauma Center, accredited Chest Pain Center, and certified Stroke Center—as well as our four affiliated HCA Houston ER 24/7 freestanding emergency care centers located at Copperfield, Fry Road, Towne Lake, and Willow Brook, with seamless continuity supported by our network of Care Now urgent care clinics.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organizations vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • Applies the nursing process to a group of patients. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other disciplines as required and adjusts the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of patient care for a group of patients according to policy and procedure; assigns and/or delegates patient care assignments to licensed and non-licensed nursing staff, based on acuity, needs of the patient, staff availability and qualifications.
  • Participates and facilitates in the case management process and cost containment for patients.
  • Demonstrates accountability for direct patient care and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care efficiently and effectively, utilizing Meditech EMR.
  • Performs assessments and delivers care in a timely manner to facilitate the timely disposition of the ER patients, considering the acuity of the patients and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret patient's EKG and manage EKG monitoring/telemetry.

  • Performs Laboratory Functions at the Emergency Centers as needed

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS issued from American Heart Association required
  • TNCC within 6 months of hire date
  • 1 year of clinical ER experience as a licensed RN required.
