Veterinary Externship — Longwood Animal Hospital (Cypress, TX)

At Longwood Animal Hospital and Pet Resort, we believe great medicine starts with great collaboration. Our team of four experienced DVMs regularly consult and support one another on cases, and they’re genuinely passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians. You’ll also be backed by our skilled and tenured support staff, who are equally committed to your success and the care of our patients.

Whether you’re exploring general practice or honing in on specific clinical interests, you’ll be part of a team that prioritizes growth, learning, and high‑quality care.

As an extern, you’ll gain practical, real‑world experience while working side‑by‑side with our veterinarians and staff in a supportive, high‑functioning environment. Your hands‑on training will include:

• Gathering patient histories and conducting physical exams
• Creating treatment and diagnostic plans
• Participating in dentistry, imaging, and lab work
• Observing and assisting in surgical procedures
• Medical management of patients
• Practicing client communication and team collaboration
• You won’t be on the sidelines—you’ll be learning by doing.

Location:

Cypress, TX (Northwest Houston area)

Duration: minimum 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks, depending on student/hospital availability

Open to: veterinary students

Stipend:
Up to $1,000 for students in their clinical year
