Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Grounds Worker provides grounds support relevant to Lone Star College campus exteriors. Maintains surrounding facility areas ensuring a clean, presentable and well-manicured environment for students, faculty, staff and external community members at all Lone Star College System's campuses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintain landscaping and grounds of one or multiple Lone Star College campus(s)

Remove trash container bags inside court yards and throughoutcampus grounds daily

Maintain irrigation, ponds and water fountains;
Diagnose and inspect sprinkler system timers, valves, wiring, piping andheads

Provide direction to outside contractors performing ground services

Assist with setup of furniture moves or office/classroomrelocation;
Assist electricians repairing outside elevatedlights

Repair minor ground equipment and schedule major equipmentrepairs with vendors

Maintain or repair structures (i.e. greenhouses, fences orbenches)

Maintains interior plants in common areas by watering,fertilizing and routinely spraying insecticides

Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must be able to understand and follow directions given orally
Physically capable of performing heavy lifting (50 pounds) andlabor intensive work associated with grounds maintenance
Capable of safely operating powered equipment, such as: riding mower, brush hog, tractor;
Be able to determine which equipment touse for a particular purpose
Knowledge of grounds keeping equipment experience helpful

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion,such as frequent climbing of tall ladders, lifting heavy objectsover 50 pounds, and crouching or crawling in restricted areas.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
