Job SummaryThe Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the mechanical design, analysis, integration, and testing of complex Department of Defense (DoD) systems, including missile launchers, weapon systems, and maritime platforms. This role requires deep experience in mechanical engineering principles, structural and thermal analysis, fabrication coordination, and the use of advanced mechanical design tools. The engineer will contribute across the full system lifecycle, from concept definition through development, integration, and test.
Responsibilities- Perform mechanical engineering analysis and design for missile launchers, weapon systems, and associated support equipment.
- Utilize mechanical engineering software tools to develop models, drawings, simulations, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical fabrication activities and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- Apply mechanical engineering test techniques to validate system performance, reliability, and safety.
- Conduct structural design and analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA), fluid dynamics, and thermal dynamics assessments.
- Support the mechanical design, development, and testing of missile launcher components and support equipment.
- Integrate mechanical subsystems into larger weapons, launchers, or maritime systems.
- Prepare engineering reports, analyses, and documentation to support design reviews and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and participate in system engineering events and reviews.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must have an active secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
- Ten (10) years of professional technical experience, including at least five (5) years of specialized experience in:
- Maritime, launcher, missile, weapon, or weapon control systems concept definition, design, integration, and engineering.
- Mechanical engineering analysis and design.
- Use of mechanical engineering software tools.
- Coordination of mechanical fabrication.
- Mechanical engineering test techniques.
- Engineering experience in mechanical design, development, and testing of missile launcher and support equipment.
- Experience with structural design and analysis, finite element analysis, fluid dynamics, and thermal dynamics.
- Experience using tools such as Solid Works, LS-DYNA, or Craft Tech software.
- Successful background and drug screening check.
- Experience supporting DoD engineering reviews, audits, and technical events.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
