Mechanical Engineer
HART Technologies, Inc. is looking for a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to join our tactical systems development team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).
The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Engineers to deliver tactical control systems and support our Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) team. Responsibilities- Design, develop and integrate mechanical components in support of tactical programs, ensuring adherence to defined program requirements and relevant standards for thermal environments, compressible flow and physical component protection.
- Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA), M&S, and Computational Fluid Dynamics software along with mechanical engineering skills in development of new designs, maintenance and enhancement of existing systems, providing formal and informal feedback as to areas of improvement in cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Ensure design compliance with applicable industry and government standards (CE, UL, etc.) for assigned products and recommend design materials based on performance requirements, weight limitations, and manufacturability.
- Develop models and drawings of complex assemblies using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Solid Works.
- Support hands‑on integration and test activities.
- Evaluate ablative erosion data; develop novel screening and performance tests.
- Assess pressure load tools; resurrect emulators; define requirements for new tools.
- Develop capability roadmap, document design best practices.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum - ~5 years in fluid dynamics, gas management, mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
- Proficiency in M&S or CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software.
- General understanding of ablative wear, thermal environments, and compressible flow.
- Active DoD Security Clearance
- Knowledge of DOD and NATO standards and certification processes
