We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), E Department. This role is pivotal in analyzing complex data trends and developing predictive models to support naval defense initiatives. The successful candidate will work onsite at either the Bowhead office or a Navy installation, applying advanced data analysis techniques to uncover insights that inform strategic decisions.

The position involves designing and implementing software components, building testing tools, and presenting data‑driven findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to national security efforts through innovative data science solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in physics, data science, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 5‑8 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated expertise in data trend analysis, database management, and development is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of relational database management systems and data warehousing concepts. Experience with creating reports and dashboards, as well as proficiency in SQL query writing and analysis, is required.

Knowledge of virtual machines, AI, and software development is highly preferred. Strong mathematical reasoning skills and familiarity with analytical tools and evaluation techniques are necessary. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for effective collaboration with senior government clients and stakeholders.

• Apply mathematics, statistics, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques to identify meaningful patterns within recorded data.
• Design, develop, modify, verify, and document software components to deliver value aligned with stakeholder requirements.
• Build and refine tools for data testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Analyze large volumes of diverse data types, including numerical, symbolic, textual, audio, and visual data.
• Develop real‑time, predictive, model‑based insights to create value and automate decision‑making processes.
• Present complex data insights in innovative formats to facilitate understanding across technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Identify, validate, and leverage internal and external data sources from various processes.
• Manage data and information in all formats, including logical analysis of taxonomies, data, and metadata structures.
• Support additional duties as assigned, contributing to project goals and organizational objectives.
