Position Overview
Amentum is seeking a Jira Developer / Administrator to work on‑site in Dahlgren, Virginia. The role requires 1–5 years of experience and a strong understanding of the Atlassian suite, Scrum, and Kanban. The candidate will help modernize the Navy’s DoD weapons and sensor systems and contribute to mission success.
Responsibilities- Optimize workflows, manage user access, ensure security configuration, and maintain the overall health of Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence environments.
- Act as a key liaison, bridging communication between technical teams and the developer community.
- Support Naval projects at Dahlgren, VA, and contribute to the Software Center of Excellence.
- Perform analysis and problem‑solving techniques for professional scientific/engineering work.
- Work independently and collaboratively within established teams across organizations to meet schedule‑driven timelines.
- Customize and maintain complex Jira workflows, statuses, transitions, validators, and post‑functions.
- Configure and manage project boards, custom fields, and screen schemes to meet business requirements.
- Manage Confluence space permissions, site structure, and content organization; develop and maintain templates for consistency.
- Customize and maintain customer portals, request types, screens, fields, and automation rules in Jira Service Management.
- Configure Asset Object Schemas, automate imports, and use Asset Query Language (AQL) queries; integrate Asset Objects with workflows, custom fields, and automations.
- Maintain Jira Align connections, ensuring programs function per business requirements.
- Administer users, groups, and project roles across all Atlassian products to ensure secure access.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to workflows, user permissions, and overall system performance.
- 1–5 years of hands‑on experience in Atlassian tool administration (Jira and Confluence).
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience with Jira.
- Proficiency in writing complex and efficient JQL queries.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges effectively.
- Methodical approach to maintaining clean data, efficient workflows, and orderly space structures.
- Active SECRET US Government Clearance.
- US citizenship required to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- Valid Real‑r’s license and reliable transportation, as occasional travel between local worksites is required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact directly with customers and engineering personnel.
- Certifications related to Atlassian products.
- Experience with scripting and APIs: familiarity with Groovy for Script Runner or Jira REST API for custom integrations.
- Experience connecting Jira with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Git Lab.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or another applicable technical field.
US: $70,000 to $110,000. The compensation range is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, and other factors.
