The Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for applying interdisciplinary engineering skills in the technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation of infrastructure solutions. This role requires a foundational understanding of virtualization technologies, scripting languages, operating systems, and complex system architectures. The engineer will support systems integration, document procedures, and collaborate with other team members to implement technical requirements of the system’s infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated problem‑solver with a passion for learning and a commitment to providing excellent technical support.
- Engineer and troubleshoot the system’s virtualized environment using VMware.
- Support the design and implementation of VM configurations based on system requirements, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.
- Develop and implement network architecture according to specifications and requirements.
- Develop and maintain scripts in Power Shell, Ansible, Bash, and Python to automate system configuration and deployment.
- Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with other team members to resolve technical issues and share knowledge.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the system of systems architecture, IaaS components, and complex system interdependencies.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux (primarily RHEL and Ubuntu) and Windows operating systems.
- Support systems integration activities for the virtualized environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering discipline.
- Ability to obtain security clearance (Must be US Citizen).
- Ability and desire to routinely work in a classified work environment onsite at the laboratory.
- Working knowledge of VMware and virtual machine configuration.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Power Shell, Ansible, Bash, and Python.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems independently.
- Basic understanding of system of systems concepts, IaaS, and complex system architectures.
- Working knowledge of Linux (RHEL and Ubuntu) and Windows operating systems.
- Understanding of basic engineering principles and best practices.
- Ability to explain facts, policies and practices related to virtualized infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Combat System functionality and Aegis tactical capabilities delivered and operational in the fleet.
- Knowledge of Combat System functionality and Aegis tactical capabilities in B/L 9 or B/L 10.
- Programming or development experience.
- VMware or IaaS certifications.
- Containerization experience (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Active SECRET level clearance.
