Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for an Associate Director for Career Design & Success. Reporting to the Director of Career Services, the Associate Director of Career Design & Success is an essential member of the leadership team, providing input on strategy and team goals; offers team training and professional development. Provides career education and advising to individual students and student groups regarding career development and career readiness.

Builds and maintains relationships with constituents on and off campus. Collaborates across campuses with department staff and faculty members as well as employers. Supervises career professionals and student staff, providing direction, coaching, and performance reviews.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes.

Responsibilities
  • Serves on Leadership Team to establish, review, and update Career Services processes, policies and procedures; solve team challenges; vet new technologies, and provide input regarding resource allocation and professional development for team.
  • Designs, delivers, and evaluates educational programs, resources, career chats and classroom presentations that strengthen student engagement across 5 campuses, supports student self-awareness, sense of purpose, career exploration, goal development, career competency development and professional readiness.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates professional career and student staff; serves on hiring committees as needed.
  • Advises individual students and student groups regarding interest/values clarification; skills assessment; resources for career exploration; job search strategies; resume development and review, interview preparation, portfolio building, social media management, use of AI, and exploration of relevant experiential learning opportunities.
  • Serves as liaison to the College of Science & Mathematics and IESA, providing consultation to faculty needing curricular or co-curricular career content for students; serves on campus-wide committees or boards, as appropriate.
  • Creates and maintains notes and reports on student appointments, event attendance, satisfaction, goals, and results; provides regular reports to director.
  • Collaborates with academic advisors, faculty and other staff on relevant programs and fairs; collaborates across campuses and participates in Division events as needed.
  • Conducts outreach to faculty, staff, alumni, student organizations, and regional employers to increase visibility of career services and provide opportunities for students to interact with employers; works with Assoc. Director of Employer Engagement to smoothly transition employer connections and ensure continuity of customer service.
  • Uses Career Management System and other technology platforms to enter and review data; demonstrates and encourages student use of tech resources.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Familiarity with federal employment laws, workforce development issues, career development theories, strategies for job seekers, career counseling and advisement.
  • Familiarity with career assessments; familiarity with career management systems a plus.
